Inventory Management Full-Time

Summary: Minimizes drug costs by utilizing proper ordering, pricing, and inventory levels while balancing the need for excellent customer service through proper inventory and safety by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Processes the daily drug order; maintains and adjusts inventory daily including returning overstocks and outdated drugs, reorders, and owes; makes adjustments for borrowed items between pharmacies and over the counter items sold without a prescription; and stays updated on specials in order to keep costs minimal.
  2. Coordinate and document the communication follow-up requirements for patients receiving specialty medications.
  3. Coordinating with SynMed operator for product change.
  4. Attains the drug usage report and adjusts inventory as needed.
  5. Enters new drugs with NDC into the company processing system.
  6. Prepares invoices with log totals for either Community or Long-Term Care pharmacy.
  7. Assists staff with locating items in the pharmacy to process prescriptions.
  8. Assists with any special ordering of medications.
  9. Process and record a scheduled narcotic order.
  10. Performs routine physical count of all schedule II and III narcotics and record into daily usage log.
  11. Processes any recalled drugs according to procedures.
  12. Assists as backup pharmacy technician as needed.
  13. Generate appropriate reports to assure we are receiving compensation, monitors these actions.
  14. Responsible for ordering, documenting, and delivering outsourcing items as applicable.  Verifies that the revenue is processed and recorded accordingly thru the POS system.
  15. Implements new procedures for keeping inventory at manageable levels and instructs staff on new policies and procedures.
  16. Follow all rules and regulations regarding outsourcing.
  17. Assists with keeping shelves orderly.
  18. Required to attend and complete any mandatory training and events.
  19. Performs other miscellaneous activities as required.
  20. Create and maintain vendor relationships.
  21. Conduct annual inventory, according to pharmacy needs and accreditation purposes.
  22. Train pharmacy technicians and educate them on inventory and ordering principles.
