CBRF Training: Standard Precautions

Standard Precautions Course

  • This event has passed.
group consultation with female speaker

The Standard Precautions Course is a state-approved program to meet the requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Administrative Code. Caregivers play an important role in the prevention of infection and this course provides the foundation of basic infection control measures for the health care setting.

The presentation also extends beyond general infection control guidelines and identifies the concerns presented by blood-borne pathogens.  It begins by treating all patients as if they are infected with a blood-borne pathogen.  In other words, treat all body fluids as infectious and use a barrier system to avoid direct or indirect contact. Hand-washing, gloving, and cleaning up a blood spill are just some of the skills covered in this training.
