Proactively Protect Your Health

Vaccines and Injections

At Streu’s Pharmacy, we do much more than just fill and dispense medications. As part of our commitment to advancing health and elevating care for our whole community, we offer pharmacy injection services beyond vaccines – including medications to treat mental health disorders and addiction.

Save a trip to the doctor with our vaccine and injection services

Pharmacy-administered injections, including vaccines, can be an efficient and effective option for a variety of patients. We offer a few different types of long-lasting psychotropic medications to help those suffering from such diagnoses as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as opioid and alcohol dependence (please note that prescriptions from your health provider are required). We also offer several different, common vaccinations including flu shots and the sometimes hard-to-find shingles vaccine.

We are also pleased to offer these services to residents in the long-term care facilities we serve.

Long-lasting antipsychotic injections

Our compassionate, knowledgeable pharmacy team and nursing staff can provide the following pharmacy-administered injections:

  • Abilify Maintena (aripiprazole), Aristada (aripiprazole), Invega Sustenna (paliperidone), Risperdal Consta (risperidone) and Haldol (haloperidol decanoate) to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder as well as other mood and mental health disorders
  • Vivitrol (Naltrexone) to treat opioid and alcohol dependence. It is part of a comprehensive strategy to treat addiction and keep it in remittance. It works by blocking receptors in your brain (for a month at a time), helping prevent relapse. Vivitrol has been proven effective in helping patients stay opioid and alcohol free, and for many people it has literally been a life-saving medication.

Patients and prescribers can call us at 920-593-2460 to speak to with a pharmacist or nurse for more information on these injections and how to go about getting started.

Vaccines

Our friendly, highly skilled pharmacists and nursing staff can administer the following vaccines:

  • Influenza (flu shots) to help protect you from the seasonal flu, which can cause hospitalization and even death. You can view our flu clinic schedule here.
  • Shingrix (shingles vaccine) to provide strong protection against shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The CDC recommends getting two doses of Shingrix if you’re a healthy adult over 50.
  • Pneumovax, which can protect against serious infection, such as ear infection, sinus infection, pneumonia, blood infection and meningitis
  • Tetanus Diptheria (Td) vaccine can protect you from tetanus, which causes stiffening muscles and could lead to death, and diphtheria, which can cause difficulty breathing, heart failure, paralysis or death. The CDC recommends this vaccine for those over 7 years old, and it is typically given as a booster dose every 10 years.
  • Tetanus Diptheria Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine can protect you from tetanus and diptheria as well as pertussis, also known as whooping cough. This tetanus shot is sometimes used instead of the Td vaccine.

Though we live in the Milwaukee area, My husband and I have been happily traveling to Streu’s Pharmacy for our COVID vaccines and boosters as well as our flu vaccines. Being in our 70s, we were initially very anxious to get the COVID vaccine. Our friends were all getting help from their children trying to find regional pharmacies where we could get our vaccines, and our neighbor’s son found Streu’s. Within a few days, we had appointments booked. Since my sister lives part time in the Green Bay area, we are very familiar with the city and didn’t mind the driving distance.

Now, your approach and your employees are the reason we keep coming back for our vaccines and boosters. The nursing team, led by Jane and Jay, actually calls us back personally when we have questions or need to schedule. When we have the 15-minute waiting period after our shots, your on-site staff is attentive to any needs we have. It’s so refreshing to get the type of personal service we grew up with years ago.  The extra touches are much appreciated. If we lived closer to Green Bay we would use Streu’s for all our regular pharmacy needs!
