BLISTER PACKS: AN EASIER WAY TO ORGANIZE MEDS
Blister packs have a few different names, such as pill packs or compliance packs. You may have heard one of them and wondered “What exactly are those, anyway?” Simply put, blister packs organize and package all of a person’s medications to make it easier to take medications correctly. If you struggle with managing a loved-one’s medications, our services provide a reliable alternative option.
Our goal:
that the right patient,
takes the right med,
in the right format,
at the right dose,
at the right time,
every time.
WHO CAN USE BLISTER PACKS?
Serving over half the long-term care facilities in the region, blister packs make up a core part of our business. However, we can provide convenience and peace of mind for anyone and everyone who has medications to manage. This can include those in their own homes, children who take medications to school, or people with mental health challenges.
For the 47% of adults in the ‘sandwich generation‘ -those caring for aging parents while still raising their own children- our services can help lighten the load. Even more importantly, taking medications correctly decreases the risk of injury from adverse drug interactions or medical emergencies, and can help aging loved-ones stay independent longer.
HOW STREU’S PHARMACY CAN HELP FILL GAP
- No need to juggle bottles or remember to fill planners – we take care of it!
- Physical packs visually show meds taken – providing peace of mind for both patient & caregiver.
- Free delivery to patient’s door – eliminating or reducing trips to the pharmacy. Delivery pre-confirmation and signature required.
- No extra cost beyond patient copays, including repacking changes.
- Friendly and skilled pharmacists available for questions or concerns.
MEDICINE-ON-TIME
Not familiar with blister packs? You can take a look at our Medicine-On-Time (MOT) packaging system below. We organize prescriptions into color-coded cards that hold all the meds for each time of day. Vitamins and supplements can also be included with a doctor’s prescription. For example:
8AM card will hold meds taken in the morning, and have a yellow frame.
8PM card will hold meds taken at bedtime, and have a blue frame.
(Meds can be packed at a variety of times – noon, dinner, etc.)
WHAT DO BLISTER PACKS ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
The front of the pack has a patient’s name, time, prescription, and pharmacy information. (Please note we do not print patient pictures.) Each standard pack holds up to 6 meds; high-capacity packs can hold up to 12. Multiple cards can be organized, as well, so no matter how complex the regimen, we can help keep it all straight.
The back of the pack: each blister has patient name, date, time, medication name, and dose printed to confirm before opening the blister. Along the bottom of the pack, directions, descriptions, pictures of each tablet/capsule are printed for reference.
